Hovermarks

For contractors

One login for all your clients.

Inspect for every client from one Hovermarks account. Each client's records stay in their own account, with your company's name on every inspection.

How it works

  1. 01

    Set up your company

Your company gets its own Hovermarks organization, starting on a 30-day free trial with no card. Your own checklists, your own team, your own settings.

  2. 02

    Clients invite you

A client invites the address you already sign in with, as a Contractor, and ticks the sites you may work at. You accept from the invite.

  3. 03

    Switch between clients

Pick a client from the organization menu. Everything you see and do is in that client's account until you switch again.

What you get in every client's account

Your name and company on every inspection

In the client's account, your inspections show you as, for example, Sam Taylor (Example Lifting Ltd): on the inspection page, the PDF report and the auditor pack, and the CSV export has a column for your company.

Share your checklists

Send a checklist from your own organization to a client. Their Admin or a Site Manager approves it, and a copy goes into their account. Later edits on your side don't change their copy.

One sign-in

One account for your own organization and every client. A client sees you, your company name and the work you do for them, never your other clients.

Works worldwide

Hovermarks is sold worldwide, so a client anywhere can invite you, whichever country your company is in.

Who pays

Hovermarks is priced per user, at one flat price whatever the role. Starter is $19 per user per month ($15 a month billed annually) and Professional is $49 ($39 billed annually). Once your company is on a paid plan and you hold one of its licenses, that license covers your work for every client that invites you, with no per-client charge and no contractor plan.

While your company is on its free trial, your license doesn't cover client work: the client has to assign you one of their licenses, or you upgrade.

Prices do not include any US sales tax that may apply.

Questions from contractors

What happens while my company is on its free trial?
A trial license doesn't cover work in other organizations. You can accept a client's invite, but you can only work for them once they assign you one of their licenses or your company moves to a paid plan.
What if a client removes me?
Your access to that client ends. Your own account, your company's organization and your other clients aren't affected. The inspections you did for that client stay in their account, with your name on them.
Can clients see my other clients?
No. A client sees you, your company name and the work you do for them. They can't see your other clients or your own organization's records.
Can I join a client as an individual, without setting up a company?
Yes. The invite offers two ways in: set up your company first, or join as an individual. As an individual, your sign-in belongs to that client and uses one of their licenses, you work for that client only, and if they remove you the account is closed.
What can I do in a client's account?
Run inspections and work on the jobs assigned to you, at the sites the client ticked for you. You can't change their settings, invite users, or see their billing, quotes, invoices or reports.

For clients

Your contractor brings their own license.

Invite your crane inspector, fire protection contractor or electrical maintenance contractor. Once their company is on a paid Hovermarks plan, their own license covers the work they do for you, so they don't use one of your seats, and the records stay in your account.

How it works

  1. 01

    Invite them as a Contractor

Add your contractor's work address on the Users page and choose the Contractor role. Invitations cost nothing.

  2. 02

    Tick their sites

Choose the sites they may work at. They see those sites only.

  3. 03

Their work lands in your account

Their inspections appear in your inspection lists, asset history and PDF reports, under their name and company.

What stays in your control

The records stay yours

Everything a contractor records for you is saved in your account. If they leave, or you stop working with them, the inspections stay, with their name on them.

Only the sites you tick

A contractor sees only the sites you tick for them. They can't see your billing, quotes, invoices or reports, and can't change your settings or invite users.

Approve or decline their checklists

A contractor can share a checklist with you. Your Admin or a Site Manager approves or declines it. Approving puts a copy in your account that you own and can edit.

See when their license lapses

If their company's plan lapses, their access to your account is paused and your Users page shows it. Their past work stays in your account.

Who pays

You pay for your own team's licenses as usual, at the same per-user price ($19 per user per month on Starter). A contractor working on their own company's paid license doesn't use one of your seats and adds nothing to your bill.

You can still assign one of your licenses to a contractor, for example while their company is on its free trial. That license is a seat on your plan.

Prices do not include any US sales tax that may apply.

Questions from clients

What happens if the contractor's license lapses?
Their access to your account is paused and your Users page says so. The inspections they have already done stay in your account. Access comes back when their company is on a paid plan again, or when you assign them one of your licenses.
Who owns the checklists?
You do. A contractor can't write checklists in your account. They can share one from their own organization, and once your Admin or a Site Manager approves it, the copy in your account is yours to edit or delete. Later changes on their side don't alter it.
Can I give them one of my licenses instead?
Yes. Use Assign license on their row on the Users page. That license is a seat on your plan. If their own license also covers them, their row says so, and you can remove yours to free the seat.
Does my contractor need a Hovermarks account?
Yes. If they don't have one, the invite lets them set up their company first or join as an individual. An individual contractor's sign-in belongs to your organization and uses one of your licenses.
