What does the NFPA ITM schedule builder do?
It turns a list of the fire and life-safety systems on your site into the inspection, testing and maintenance calendar those systems carry: weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and multi-year tasks, each labelled with whether trained building staff can normally do it or whether it needs a licensed contractor, and which NFPA standard it comes from.
Which standards does it cover?
NFPA 25 for water-based systems (wet and dry sprinklers, fire pumps, standpipes), NFPA 72 for fire alarm, NFPA 10 for portable extinguishers, NFPA 110 for emergency generators, NFPA 96 for kitchen hood suppression, and NFPA 101 for emergency and exit lighting. Intervals reflect the editions widely adopted across US jurisdictions in 2026.
Is the schedule it produces legally binding?
No. It is a planning aid. Your Authority Having Jurisdiction can require more frequent work, your insurer can impose its own conditions, and a listed manufacturer's instructions govern their equipment. Use the output to build your programme, then confirm it against your AHJ and the current adopted editions in your jurisdiction.
Do I need to enter an email to use it?

How often does a wet-pipe sprinkler system need inspecting?
Under NFPA 25 a wet-pipe system carries monthly gauge checks, quarterly water-flow alarm tests at the inspector's test connection and fire department connection inspection, semi-annual main drain tests at each riser, an annual full system inspection with antifreeze testing where fitted, and a 5-year internal pipe inspection with gauge accuracy verification.
How often must portable fire extinguishers be inspected?
NFPA 10 sets four intervals: a monthly visual inspection that in-house staff can perform, an annual maintenance examination by a certified technician, a 6-year internal examination for stored-pressure extinguishers, and hydrostatic testing every 5 years for water, foam, CO2 and wet chemical units or every 12 years for stored-pressure dry chemical units.
What does NFPA 110 require for emergency generators?
A weekly inspection of the emergency power supply system, a monthly exercise of at least 30 minutes under load at no less than 30 percent of nameplate kW or the manufacturer's recommended exhaust temperature, an annual load bank test where the monthly run cannot reach that loading, and for Level 1 systems a 4-hour continuous test at least once every 3 years.
